Shop Till You Drop Camp.

Kids Club Fun and Fitness in Salmon Creek is having a Shop Till U Drop Camp for kids (ages 4-12) on Black Friday, November 27, 2009 from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm.

Drop the kids off and let them have fun; swimming (1st-5th Graders), Gymnastics, Arts and Crafts, Jungle Playland and more, while you have fun shopping, or just relaxing!

Alki Plays in Championship Game.

Update: Alki wins! 18 to 6, Way to go Wolves!!

Good Luck Alki Eighth Grade Football! They will be playing in the Vancouver School District Middle School Football Championship Game on Wednesday, October 21st, 6:00 pm at Kiggins Bowl against Jason Lee.

It’s been an exciting season to watch, with five wins and one loss; with Jason Lee being the only school to beat the wolves! So come on out and cheer our boys as they take on the Panthers!

Clean and Green in Clark County

You don’t have to use harsh chemical products to clean your house. Learn how to make simple nontoxic products for pennies per ounce. These products are effective and are safer for your children, pets and your health.

Workshop is free, but $15 buys a green cleaning kit to give to a friend for the holidays.  :-)

NSCNA Halloween Contest

Get Into the Spirit of Halloween.

The North Salmon Creek Neighborhood Association (NSCNA) will be having its fourth annual Halloween House Decorating Contest this year for homes in the NSCNA boundaries.  “Winners will receive bragging rights and a Best in the NSCNA award.  Enter yourself, your neighbor, or that house that catches your eye with a ghoulish graveyard.”  (Just make sure it is “just for decoration” :-) ).

Can Dogs Help Kids Read?

reading-dogApparently so.  Studies show that reading aloud can help reading comprehension, and reading to a dog seems to be less intimidating than reading to a person.  CBS News aired a short news story on this, “Can Dogs Teach Kids to Read?

Three Creeks Library in Salmon Creek has a Read to the Dogs event scheduled for Wednesday, October 21st from 5 to 7 pm for children ages five to twelve.

Salmon Creek Elementary Family Movie Night.

monster_houseIn the spirit of Halloween, the first Family Movie Night of the school year will be “Monster House”, playing on October 12, 2009 at 6:30 pm.  Bring your pillow and blanket, grab a spot on the floor, and enjoy the show!  The Salmon Creek PTA will also be selling popcorn and Halloween candy for those who want a little snack during the show!

Walking Tour of Salmon Creek Trail

Walk There.

salmon_creekVancouver Parks and Rec, in partnership with the Portland Metro Council, will be giving away free pedometers and “Walk There” trail guides on Saturday, September 19 as part of an initiative to “encourage connectivity and awareness about the region’s trail systems.”

The walk will begin around 9 am at the Salmon Creek Sports Association Complex and head west to Cougar Creek and back, about 2.6 miles of easy walking on the paved trail. The wheelchair accessible trail winds through 850 acres of greenway, creeks, meadows and ponds and offers bird viewing as well as other wildlife, so bring your binoculars.

The Salmon Creek Sports Complex is located at 800 NE 117th Street.  For more information about this walk, call 360-619-1134.

Seems as though the computer generated schedules for Salmon Creek Soccer Club needed a bit of “tweaking” (technical jargon for correcting), and some teams may see some changes from their previously published schedule.

So please, if you are on a team, going to be watching a team, or getting a player to a game, or a coach, just recheck the schedule at Salmon Creek Soccer.

While classes have not yet started for Skyview High School, the Skyview Storm Football Team has been practicing hard and is ready for their first game of the season tonight, Friday September 4, 2009 at Union High School at 8 pm.

Salmon Creek Soccer Premier and Select Teams Add Tryout Date.
