Burgerville? Yes, at Burgerville.  The local band Red Spades will be playing tonight (8/27) at Burgerville in Salmon Creek from 7-9 pm.

Wild Smoked Salmon and Hazelnut Salad, a glass of wine and live music…Burgerville, I love you!

FC Salmon Creek Juventus

Help Support Salmon Creek Soccer.

The FC Salmon Creek Boys Juventus 98 will be having a fundraiser on August 29 from 8-10:00 am.

Just eat breakfast at Applebee’s, the one  on SR-500 and 112th Ave, and have pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice and milk.  A portion of the proceeds will go to support our neighborhood boys, FC Salmon Creek Juventus 98.

Who knew supporting soccer could be so tasty.

Two-fer Tuesday.

Pizza Night at the Wayside Market in Salmon Creek.

Every Tuesday, for as long as I can remember, it’s Pizza Two-fer Tuesday at the Wayside Market.  Two Pizzas for $5.  And that’s two pizzas with anything you want on them.  Tonight was “Everything” and “Canadian Bacon”.

Walk in (1309 NE 134th Street) or call ahead (574-0155).  My teenage son has them on speed-dial on his phone so they must be good! 

If you like a cold brew with your pizza, be sure to check out their “Beer Cave”.  They claim to have the coldest beer in town.  What do you think?

Free Fair Day

Free Fare Day, Too.

Update 8/06/09:  All Fred Meyer stores are now out of coupons needed for the free admission and pancake breakfast.

The Clark County Fair will open on Friday, August 7 with free admission (until 11 am) and free pancake breakfast sponsored by Fred Meyer.  You will need to pick up a coupon from your local Fred Meyer store before Friday morning!

C-Tran is also offering free fare on August 7 until approximately noon for the Clark County Fair’s annual free admission and pancake breakfast day.

C-Tran shuttle service to the fair is offered at the following locations:
* Fisher’s Landing Transit Center
* Westfield Vancouver Mall
* 99th Street Transit Center
* Battle Ground
* La Center Park and Ride
* Ridgefield Park and Ride

Notice how I did not mention the Salmon Creek Park and Ride Shuttle?  Well, that is because there isn’t one.  However,  C-Tran does operate a shuttle from the Salmon Creek Park and Ride to the Clark County Amphitheater on concert days.

Don’t forget, only four more days to buy discounted fair tickets from your local merchants or on-line.

Help Young Teens Go to Camp.

There’s something for everyone at Burgerville.  At our local Burgerville here in Salmon Creek, that something seems to be cash.

All day on Tuesday, July 28, Clark County Young Life will receive 10% of any order when you show this flyer.  The money raised will be used to help our local kids go to a camp where they can develop the skills, assets and attitudes to reach their full God-given potential.

Talk about putting your money where your mouth is.  Thanks, Burgerville Salmon Creek for being such a great neighbor!

Papa Murphy’s in Salmon Creek (the one by Fred Meyer) has discounted Fair Tickets on sale!

I’m all for saving money, and time (the fewer stops I have to make the better), so being able to pick up some cheap Fair tickets as I’m picking up my Cowboy (pizza, that is) is great for me.

Now I just have to remember where I put them! 

Poverty Banquet

What Are You Having For Dinner?

That isn’t a choice you’ll have to make at this banquet.

WSU Vancouver is hosting a Poverty Banquet to raise awareness about local and global poverty issues 7 – 8 p.m. Friday, July 10 in the Firstenburg Student Commons. This event is free and open to the public.

Upon arrival, guests (or groups of guests) will be randomly assigned to dine in one of three groups representing world income classes:

- Upper 15% – Three-course dinner
(representing 15% of the world’s population)

- Middle 25% – Pizza
(representing 25% of the world’s population)

- Lower 60% – Bread and water
(representing 60%  of the world’s population)

Guest speakers at the Poverty Banquet will be David Bowlan of the Luepke Loaves & Fishes meal center and Minda Seibert of Mercy Corps. They will address issues related to local and global poverty and hunger.

Spirits are Up in Salmon Creek

Specialty Beer and Wine Store Coming Soon.

If you believe good ol’ Ben, then Salmon Creek living is getting better.  Nova Wine Shop is planning on opening a specialty beer and wine store in the Salmon Creek Square, next to West Coast Bank.  No opening day set, but we’ll keep you posted.

Sushi Chiyo, which is also opening opening soon in the Salmon Creek Square has applied for their liquor license; as has Bamboo Hut next to the Salmon Creek Fred Meyer.  Looks like Salmon Creek Burgerville started a chain reaction.
