Wendy’s Hamburgers in Hazel Dell (8000 NE 6th Ave) is having a Community Night on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 between 4pm and 8pm.

Simply head on over to Hazel Dell Wendy’s and eat some delicious Old Fashioned Hamburgers, and Wendy’s will donate a portion of sales to support the Felida Neighborhood Association Kids in Need Program.

Pancakes for breakfast sounds good, right? Well, then pancakes for breakfast that raises funds for a local neighborhood holiday celebration sounds even better!

The Salmon Creek Applebee’s (13006 NE Hwy 99) will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, November 19, 2011 between 8am and 10am. You can also bid on items during the silent auction between 8-9:30am.

Tickets are $7 each, and the funds raised will go towards hosting a holiday celebration for local kids that might not otherwise have one. Tickets can be purchased at Riverview Community Bank in Salmon Creek (800 NE Tenney Rd) or Riverview Community Bank in Hazel Dell (1220 NE 88th St).

A Book and Toy Barrel will also be on site, so please bring in a donation if you can.

Join Share and Whole Foods Market – Mill Plain for a “Taste of Thanksgiving” event on Thursday, November 10, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Whole Food Market – Mill Plain, 815 SE 160th Avenue. Guests make a donation and are given a menu which includes everything from their full holiday meal to wine and dessert.

“We are delighted to once again partner with Whole Foods Market – Mill Plain,” said Diane McWithey, Executive Director. “This year marks the fifth annual Taste of Thanksgiving event, which is a wonderful, family-friendly event. Please bring your family, friends and neighbors to partake in the delicious food and holiday cheer.”

Celebrating the Pacific Northwest’s Bounty is the theme for the NW Harvest Dinner presented by the Clark County Skills Center Restaurant Management/Culinary Arts Program taking place on Friday, November 4, 2011; and YOU are invited!

Dinner will begin at 6:30 pm at Touch of Class (Clark County Skills Center, 12200 NE 28th st, Vancouver) and will include freshly baked breads, mixed greens with cranberries and bleu cheese dressing, Chef Andrew’s roasted butternut squash soup, roasted chicken with granny apple stuffing, yellow yukon smashed potatoes, local green beans sauteed with shallots, and caramel white chocolate bread pudding with a hazelnut brittle. Lordy, Lordy, look who’s 40! The Vancouver Sausage Festival is the “last blowout of summer fun” and will celebrate its 40th Anniversary September 9-11, 2011; which is the weekend after Labor Day this year. Actually, it is always held the weekend after Labor Day on the St. Joseph School grounds (6500 Highland Drive).

There are carnival rides and games, 5K Fun Run (Saturday morning), Bingo, many handicraft booths, a variety of live music and entertainment on the Main stage (including 5 Guys Named Moe, The Beatniks, dance performances,  Hula Hoop contest, and the Grand Finale of the Southwest Washington’s Got Talent contest!) beer & wine in the Fest Garden, and food, food, and more food! Sausage served every way you can think of, corn on the cob, grilled chicken, burgers, elephant ears, and all the sweets you can imagine! The sweets are home baked goodness made right there in the kitchen!

General admission is $2, or $1 with a non-perishable food donation for the Vancouver Fire Department Christmas Food Drive. Discounted advance ticket sales are going on now! A First Friday event so big, it’s taking over the first Saturday, too! Vancouver’s Downtown Association Annual Art in the Heart event will kick off  Friday, August 5 between 5 pm and 9pm, and continue Saturday, August 6 from 10 am to 4 pm.

This annual outdoor event is free to attend and features dozens of artists working in all styles and medium from the downtown galleries selling work along the sidewalks and on the streets, along with live music, artist demonstrations, poetry readings and even a fashion show.

“Gallery 360 & Mosaic Arts Alliance will present  the 2nd Annual Wearable Art Benefit Fashion Show for the Art in the Heart Festival, 7pm Friday night.  This show will prove to be an eclectic array of apparel & accessories for women and men.  The outdoor audience will see retro/vintage examples of artsy wear, along with modern ready2wear that will look as though it came from an artists easel.  Handmade jewelry, body art and exotic lingerie will also provide a myriad of visual appeal … AND it’s a STREET PARTY with live music by the band UpFront starting at 5:00 and playing until 9:00!  Come join the fun at  Main & 9th Streets. The fashion show is free to enjoy; or you can make a donation ($10 each or 2 for $15) for priority seating to sit and watch the show.
