March to Camelot

Hazel Dell Parade of Bands 2009.

hazel-dell-parade

This year’s Parade of Bands will be Saturday, May 16, and Salmon Creek’s local Middle School and High School Bands will be performing.

The event kicks off at 7 a.m. at Fire District 6 Station on Hazel Dell Avenue with a Lions Club Breakfast.  The Parade will begin at the Fire Station at 10:30 a.m.

This year, Skyview High School will be the first band in the line-up (number 5 in the overall line-up), preceding the Grand Marshall, Betty Sue Morris.  Alki’s Band is number 53 in the line-up.  For those interested, there is a complete 2009 Hazel Dell Parade of Bands Staging list. The Parade route will begin at the Fire Station on Hazel Dell Avenue and head South, turn East on NE 63rd Street, North up Highway 99 to NE 78th Street.

Looks as though the weather is going to cooperate, so get out and have some fun and support our Salmon Creek Bands.  Click here or here for a quick look at last year’s parade.

Snowing in Salmon Creek?

Yes! Snowing Cherry Blossoms that is.flowering-trees

After a long, and unusually white, winter, spring has made its way to Salmon Creek. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom up and down the neighborhood, and when the spring breeze rustles through the trees, well, it’s snowing cherry blossoms.

A Unicycle?

I don’t know who had more fun, the students trying to ride the unicycles, or the parents who were watching.  unicycle-thumb1Of course, none of the grownups who stopped to watch the 5th graders during PE  at Salmon Creek School actually attempted to ride.  But from my seat on the sidelines it looked like a good lesson in both balance and teamwork for the kids.  (click on image for larger view)

“Oh, I wish I was an Oscar Mayer wiener…” Come on, everybody sing!

The Wienermobile was spotted in Salmon Creek on Sunday, Jan. 25th.  According to the Hotdogger Blog, the Fire Department gave the WEENR Wagon a good washing!
