North Salmon Creek Neighborhood Association Executive Meeting Minutes
The August 24th NSCNA Executive Meeting was held at Paul Scarpelli’s house and began at 7 PM.
Members present: • Paul Scarpelli, President • Barbara Anderson, Vice President • Samantha Guse, Secretary • Mitch Canton, Director #3 • Dan Bodell, Director #4 • Larry Gentry, Director #5 • David Devine Director #7 Members Absent: • Merle Kullberg, Treasurer • Jennifer Konopasek, Director #1 • Pat Hughes, Director #2 • Ron Wilson, Director #6 Guests: • Avril Massey, president ex-oficio
1. NSCNA sign on Bliss needs to be moved. The County will get to it but it is not a priority.
2. Bliss Intersection issues a. David spoke to Public Works. They put up a sign for northbound 36th notifying traffic that southbound doesn’t stop.
3. September Meeting a. Only agenda item is the Salmon Creek interchange b. Groundbreaking ceremony is Sept. 2nd. c. Discussed speakers and what issues we would like them to address.
4. Park update a. New Acquisition – time lines as outlined by county: i. October 2010 – An initial newsletter and comment form will be mailed to all neighbors within 1/2 mile. Form asks what type of amenities they’d like to see in park. Electronic version available at: www.clarkparks.org/projects/chinook.htm ii. Nov-Dec 2010 – Neighbors will be invited to attend a public meeting to view and provide input about draft concept plan drawings showing what the park might look like after it’s developed. iii. Jan-Feb 2011 – Staff will develop a revised concept plan drawing selecting neighborhood comments and mail it out to neighbors in a newsletter and post it on the project web page. iv. March 2011 – Staff will ask Parks & Rec Advisory Commission to approve. v. Construction would begin in Fall 2011, with a letter to neighbors advising of construction day/hours of work, etc. b. The Park’s department continues to express their desire to acquire another neighborhood park in Salmon Creek, primarily to serve those people north of 149th Street.
5. Salmon Creek Boulevard idea a. Discussed the possibility of renaming 139th or 134th or NE Tenney as Salmon Creek Boulevard.
6. West Precinct Open house a. Sept 18th from 12-4
7. Board vacancies a. Pat is moving to Germany. b. David is stepping down. c. Merle is moving for the winter. d. Samantha has reached term limits as secretary in November.
8. Halloween Decorations Awards a. For about three years now, Dan has announced in the newsletter a holiday decoration contest for best home decorations for Halloween. He has expressed an interest in continuing this, and will write something for inclusion in the next letter. b. Nominations may be submitted to any board member, and the judging will occur as close to Halloween as possibly, perhaps the 29th or 30th. c. It appears that Larry will route out a judges tour and may even provide transportation. d. Forgoing gift cards as awards, it will just be the recognition in the next newsletter.
