Salmon Creek Neighborhood Association August 2009 Board Minutes

As part of our ongoing coverage of the activities that shape your Salmon Creek neighborhood, the following are the formal minutes from the North Salmon Creek Neighborhood Association Executive Board Meeting, held on August 25, 2009.


The August 25 NSCNA Executive Meeting was held at Riverview Community Bank and began at 6:30 pm.

1.    Agenda Review


2.    Minutes  – Larry moved that we dispense with the reading of the minutes.  Seconded.  Motion approved.

3.    Officers reports
a.    Treasurer’s Report from Merle
-    Balance:  $283.48.
b. Waste Connections Seminar – Expecting $120.

4.    Old Business
a.    Name tag  – voucher approval
-    Total due:  $103.87
-    Larry moves that we approve reimbursing Barbara $103.87 for the cost of the name tags.   Seconded.  Vote:  All in favor. Motion carried.
b.    Disaster Preparedness – CERT Sheds Update – Dan
-    Walmart has said they will contribute but we need to present them a solid plan before requesting materials or funds.
-    CRESA is having an open house on Saturday,. Sept. 12. 11-2.
c.    Election of officers – soliciting candidates
-    All officer positions are up for re-election.
d.    NSCNA history activites – follow up with Donna Sickles 892-0361
e.    Team 99 report – Ron

5.    New Business
a.    Open House CCFD6 on Sept. 19 from 12-4
-    We have a table there.  Need volunteers to staff it:
-    11:30 – 1 – Jen, Barbara
-    1:00 – 2:30 – Avril, Larry
-    2:30 – 4:00 – Merle, Sam

b.    Merchant contributions – define team position (banner donations). 
c.  Halloween decorating contest – Carrol & Sam
-    Need donations for prizes.
-    Need volunteers for judges.
-    Nominate any interesting houses during the contest.
d.    Park celebration collaboration with Fairgrounds, Hazel Dell & Felida
-    Official opening sometime in March.
-    We want to have it in nice weather.
-    Dan will talk to the Lions for cooking hamburgers/hot dogs/chicken.
-    Jen, Barbara, and Avril will work on the committee.
e.    Landscaping Design Standards
-    Affects Team 99:  In a meeting today, Mike Butts reported that the form based code may take twice as long for staff to go through as what we have now.

-    We don’t know where in the Clark County process these new design standards are.  More research is needed.
f.    Newsletter delivery strategy / training / planning
-    Last time there were several issues around delivery, maps, and manpower.
-    Each Director needs to know how to look up their sections on the Clark County Property info site.  Then they can bundle the appropriate number of newsletters with maps to their volunteers.

g.    Newsletter deadlines
-    Articles due no later than Aug. 28th
-    To printer, try for Sept. 1st (problem with school not being in yet)
-    Hand delivery via volunteer network – to volunteers by the 10th.
