Salmon Creek Neighborhood Association July 2009 Minutes

As part of our ongoing coverage of the activities that shape your Salmon Creek neighborhood, the following are the formal minutes from the North Salmon Creek Neighborhood Association General Meeting, held on July 28, 2009.


The July 28, 2009 NSCNA General Meeting was held at Three Creeks Library at 7 PM.  The meeting was started with the Pledge of Allegiance led by President Barbara Anderson.

1.    Avril moved to accept minutes as written.  Seconded.  Vote: All in favor.

2.    Treasurer’s Report:  Merle is absent but sent in the report that there is no change.

3.    CERT Shed Committee Report by Dan
a.    We are scouting for two locations in the neighborhood.

4.    Parks Committee Update by Barbara
a.    Met with the new chair of the Parks Advisory Commission.
b.    Did not receive any new information however they did acknowledge there was a need for a park north of 149th St.  They are confirming interest with a property seller in that area.
c.    Our PIF dollars run out in 6 years.  We are at 3.5 now for parts of the development.
d.    We are looking for volunteers to help with this committee.  Having several voices will help bring attention to this critical issue.

5.    Newsletter Distribution
a.    There have been cutbacks in the Clark County staffing.  There is a distinct possibility that additional cutbacks could require us to do hand delivery for each issue.
b.    We are still trying to develop our hand delivery network.  If you can do your block or subdivision, please consider helping out!

6.    Speaker:  Dawn Johnson, Clark County Fire District 6.:  Emergency Preparedness
a.    H1N1 as of 7/24/09 in Washington State.
-    122 Hospitalizations
-    7 deaths
-    600 confirmed cases
b.    Next CERT training is in October.

7.    Neighbor to Neighbor
a.    Barbara:  Whipple Creek Place Neighborhood:  Along 153rd Street, there were 8 different break ins between cars and homes.  They broke into cars to get garage door openers and then got into the homes.
b.    Salmon Creek Farmers Market update from Ann Foster:  
-    Thursday afternoons, 4 to twilight, starting next June (2010)
-    Action Requested:  Email ann_foster@comcast.net  She needs to hear from as many people as possible who will participate in an electronic survey regarding our farmers market.  Please contact her!
c.    Dan:  Freeway Interchange Work update:  Driveways along the library side into Fred Meyer will be reworked so there is one main driveway on that side.
d.    Kathy Gillespie:  Candidate for Vancouver School Board of Directors.
e.    Lois:  Fireworks issues – People need to keep water on hand and only do it in open areas.

The next meeting is July 28th.
