Young Eagles Take to the Skies in Clark County.
The annual Open Cockpit Day at the Pearson Air Museum (1115 East 5th Street, Vancouver) will be Saturday, May, 28, 2011 between 10 am and 5 pm.
This is the one day a year when the “DO NOT CLIMB” and “DO NOT TOUCH” signs are removed, and visitors will have the opportunity to climb into the cockpits of several historic aircraft and see the controls from the pilot’s perspective.
If the weather cooperates, volunteer pilots from EAA’s Young Eagles program will offer free airplane rides to youth ages 8 through 17 (with written permission from parents/guardians). Flights are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis so youth and parents should arrive early to register children for a free plane ride.
Museum admission applies to this family-friendly event ($7 adults, $5 seniors, active military with ID and students ages 6-17; children under age 6 are free; $22 family rate for 2 adults and up to 4 children). For information, call Pearson Air Museum at 360-694-7026.
