Salmon Creek Parents Go Back to Middle School.
If you have a child attending Alki Middle School, mark your calendar for Wednesday October 21, 2009 for the annual, ever popular “Inside Alki”. This is a day where parents are invited to attend classes with their child and experience Middle School all over again!
Seriously though, Inside Alki is a great way to see first hand the great teaching that goes on at Alki, and gain a better understanding of your child’s day at school. Parents are invited to come for all, or part of, the day (and it’s a two hour early release day!) and have the opportunity to give a written “Way to Go” to the teachers there.
And remember, Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up October 22nd and 23rd. Coincidence?

Back to School Open House.
Yes, Alki Middle School does have a Back to School Open House. No, they do not serve ice cream.
Back to School Open House Night for Alki will be September 2nd from 5:30-6:30 pm. This Open House is geared for incoming 6th graders and new students, but all are welcome.
“No Shots, No School.” If your 6th grader has not gotten their shots updated, now is the time to do it. If your child has had their shots, you can bring a copy of their records to the Alki school office after August 17. Not sure what immunizations are required? Click for the Vancouver School District Immunization Requirements.
Also, Fall Sports will begin early this year. Football and Volleyball practice will begin Monday August 31, 2009 for the next school year. The reason for this change is so that the first winter sports season can end prior to Winter Break. The first contests will begin Wednesday, September 16th. If your son or daughter is
interested in being eligible for the first games of the season, they will need to turn out at the first practices prior to school starting.
Need a physical? Don’t forget Skyview High School will be offering Free Sports Physicals on August 13th from 1:30 to 4:30 pm.
Still want more information? The Alki office will open August 17.

Well, Payback Day is May 22, 2009.
That’s right. Friday, May 22, 2009 will now be a school day for our Salmon Creek neighborhood kids, as well as all other kids in the Vancouver School District.
So, just remember this for next year as your kids, and maybe even some of you parents, are praying for snow next school year. At least there were plenty of days built into the calendar this year and kids won’t be having to go to school until the Fourth of July!
By the way, for those interested in how much longer till Summer Vacation, the Vancouver School District has a countdown, down to the second!
