Chinook and Salmon Creek Students Still Have School.

All schools in the Vancouver School District, which includes all our schools here in the Salmon Creek neighborhood, friday-the-13thwill have early release on Wed and Thur, March 11 and 12 for conferences.  But, Alki Middle School and Skyview High School students also get all day off on Friday the 13th, while the students at Chinook and Salmon Creek Elementary still have a normal Friday the 13th.  We’ll see who’s still laughing after student led conferences are over.… [Continue reading...]

Ever have to be in two places at the same time?  Well, if you have kids attending both Alki and Salmon Creek Schools, you better figure it out!

As we have yet to figure out how to be in two places at the same time, I believe we will be pulling out the Sock’em Boppers to settle this dispute.

Good Morning Alki

Full “Yawning” Moon.

The official name for February’s Full Moon is the Full Snow Moon.  But, for those of us with 7th Grade Basketball players at Alki, (practice begins at 7 am),  this morning’s Full Moon over Salmon Creek was more like the Full Yawning Moon.  Just a reminder though, Wednesday (Feb. 11) is a 2 hour late start for the Vancouver School District, so there will be no morning basketball practice.[Continue reading...]

Alki Has Unusually Large Sick Call Day.

Alki Middle School had an unusually large number of absences due to illness on Monday, Feb. 2.  The school is taking extra precautions in their cleaning overnight.  Should you need it, the absence line is 313-1448.  It is a voicemail box that is available 24 hours a day so you don’t need to wait until school hours to call.… [Continue reading...]
