Over 1,500 children ages 5-14, along with their parents, are expected to attend and will have the opportunity to experience and learn about the sport of fishing.

The Klineline Kids Fishing Event is about more than just a fun day of fishing; it’s about introducing the kids to the sport of fishing as an individual and family activity and a way to become more aware of our natural resources. Presented by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife and Klineline Kids Fishing, this program gives kids an opportunity to experience the thrill of catching a fish as well as connecting youth to the outdoors.

This year, Klineline Kids Fishing, a partner with the non-profit organization Go Play Outside Alliance of Washington (GoPaw), is asking for your support in putting together this worthwhile event at Klineline Pond. For a donation of $250 or more, your business logo will be printed on the back of every child’s T-shirt, and space will be provided at the event to hang your banner.

If you would like more information on how to participate as a sponsor, please contact Wil Morrison – Washington Fish and Wildlife at 360-906-6705 or email Wil.Morrison@dfw.wa.gov.

What is Fishing Kids? Well, it’s a day of fishing fun for kids and their families. Kids will be given a Zebco rod and reel to fish with, get the chance to catch, clean and keep a couple of fish, and get a commemorative Fishing Kids T-shirt. They also get to keep the rod and reel they fish with.

If you have never been to a Fishing Kids Event, here is how the day will go. When you register, you will be given a time slot to fish. As all fishing gear and bait is provided, so no personal fishing gear is allowed. Families may go to the fishing spot of their choice, and while parents are encouraged to help their kids fish, the kids should actually be doing the fishing.

Once the limit of two fish is caught, kids will move over to the measuring and cleaning stations. No catch and release is allowed!

What’s the catch? Well, like I said, pre-registration is required, and it is limited to the first 1200 kids (ages 5-14). For more information on youth fishing, visit the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife; or click for Klineline Kids Fishing Event Registration Application.
