“The quaint community of Ridgefield, WA is home to the BlackPearl Equestrienne Troupe, a team of horses and riders dedicated to the philanthropic value of equestrian art. The troupe now travels along the west coast and performs with some of the world’s most beautiful and talented equines including Friesian, Andalusian and Spotted Baroque horses. Comprised mainly of stallions, the troupe performs choreographed dances to music, highlighting the trick training of Susan Dyer-DeBoer, the troupe’s founder and organizer.

The BlackPearl Equestrienne Troupe self-funds the majority of these costs and does so in honor of the immeasurable value these horses bring to the hearts of their public. In times like these, touching others through love is priceless.

In 2012, the BlackPearl Equestrienne Troupe will be piloting a one hour show in Albany, Oregon entitled “If Wishes Were Horses”. The intent is to take the viewer along on a journey of dreams that really do come true. The costs for creating such a production are significant and in an attempt to help offset these costs, the troupe and their supporters are hosting a silent auction to raise funds. Your help will keep the BlackPearls dancing for many others to enjoy.

Pancakes for breakfast sounds good, right? Well, then pancakes for breakfast that raises funds for a local neighborhood holiday celebration sounds even better!

The Salmon Creek Applebee’s (13006 NE Hwy 99) will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, November 19, 2011 between 8am and 10am. You can also bid on items during the silent auction between 8-9:30am.

Tickets are $7 each, and the funds raised will go towards hosting a holiday celebration for local kids that might not otherwise have one. Tickets can be purchased at Riverview Community Bank in Salmon Creek (800 NE Tenney Rd) or Riverview Community Bank in Hazel Dell (1220 NE 88th St).

A Book and Toy Barrel will also be on site, so please bring in a donation if you can.

Join the Clark County Fire and Rescue Firefighters Association for the 7th Annual Memorial Golf Tournament on September 11, 2011 at the Lewis River Golf Course (3209 Lewis River Rd, Woodland).

Cost is $40 per player and includes Green Fees, Golf Cart, and Lunch. 8 am Shotgun Scramble with raffle and prizes. Donations are encouraged for the Epp Family.

Reach and Restore NW is a yearly event that helps bring people together around 3 ministries that are effectively reaching the lost and hurting youth of our community. On Sunday, September 11th at 5:00 p.m., Three Brother’s Winery (2411 NE 244th St, Ridgefield) will be hosting a Benefit Concert with the Kate White Band.  Pack a picnic and lawn chairs and come sample some of the NW’s finest wine!

Their goal is  to raise funds and awareness for Young Life, Music That Matters and Northwest Children’s Outreach. “It is an opportunity for us to show, through prayer and financial backing that our youth matter.”

“Our youth are at risk, and numbers are rising, even here in Vancouver, WA.  The number of children living in poverty is on the rise.  The percentage of teens experimenting with sex, drugs and alcohol as well as the statistics for teen suicide is sobering.  Broken homes are common-place and teen crime is up.  Our youth are crying out to be seen, heard and loved.”~Reach and Restore NW

Remember how much fun school carnivals were when you were growing up? Well, the school carnival has graduated into the “Hooked” event at Columbia Springs!

Now in its third year, Columbia Springs annual FUNdraising (emphasis on fun!) event will take place on Friday, August 19 from 6 pm to 10pm on the beautiful 100 acre Columbia Springs site located at 12208 SE Evergreen Hwy., Vancouver, WA. All proceeds from ticket sales and carnival games will go to support environmental education programs offered at Columbia Springs.

Enjoy live music by Charlie Jenkins and SupaDupa Marimba Bros, gourmet carnival food (yes, there is such a thing  ), local wine and beer, and loads of carnival games! The Ring Toss has grown up into the Wine Toss and the Microbrew Toss, challenge your friends at Skee-ball and Golf, or take aim at some prominent Vancouverites in the Dunk Tank hot seat!

Guests are able to vote for their favorite as they purchase their tickets giving points to each contestant. The first dunk is auctioned off guaranteeing a splash from an admiring fan, and lastly each game ticket acquired, as guests do there best to keep the dunk tankees in the drink, scores the contestants even more points.”

Columbia Springs is a non-profit organization open to the community offering learning opportunities and free hiking trails for all ages. Over 4,500 school children visit each year and your support helps these children connect to the natural world and inspire stewardship in our community.

Time to stock up on books for summertime fun!

Come browse the Buy One Get One Free Scholastic Book Fair going on at Salmon Creek Elementary School (1601 NE 129th St) through June 3, 2011.

On Tuesday, May 31, the Salmon Creek Book Fair will be open from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Then come Tuesday evening for a fun family night at Bingo & Books Night from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Not only will you be able to browse the book fair, but play some free Bingo, win some prizes, and have some fun with friends and neighbors. Pizza and beverages will be available for purchase.

The Salmon Creek Elementary Book Fair will also be open Wednesday and Thursday, June 1-2, between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm; and Friday, June 3, from 8:00 am till noon.

All are welcome, but visitors please check in at the office before proceeding to the Book Fair!

The RockSolid Teen Center in Battle Ground is having a Garage Sale on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, 2011. Now is a great time to clean out your cupboards, closets and garages because they will be accepting YOUR gently used (and tax deductible) donations Tuesday, April 26th through Thursday, April 28 between 9 am and 5:30 pm. Then, shop on Friday and Saturday for some great bargains, and help the ROCKSOLID Teen Center.

Don’t forget to bring your dirty cars and your sweet tooth with you to the sale, because there’s gonna be a car wash and a bake sale going on, too. The car wash will be from 2:30 to 4 on Friday, and from noon to 4 on Saturday.

All proceeds will benefit the RockSolid Teen Center in Battle Ground, a community center for local youth.”By providing a place for kids that is safe and fun with adult supervision and good peer support, we hope to affect lives and influence the future choices and good decisions for our teens.”
