Okay to Spray, But Not Splash.
Update 8/21/09: Klineline Pond OK for Swimming!
Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Greenway has been closed to swimmers today, August 18, by the Health Department due to high levels E-coli. The spray park at Klineline Pond is still safe to use as its water does not come from the pond and is chlorinated to kill bacteria. So, while the picnic areas and spray park are open for use, the pond is off limits.
Another test is scheduled for Wednesday, with updates available Thursday or Friday. Let’s keep out fingers crossed.
Just last month, Vancouver Lake was also closed to swimmers due to E-coli and Algae Bloom, and is still closed.
