The Skyview High School Choirs and Orchestra will be presenting their Storm Forecast Concert on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 7 pm, at the Skyview High School Auditorium (1300 NW 139th St, Salmon Creek).

The concert is free and open to the public and will feature music they have prepared for the competitive season.

Rain-soaked feet, ill-fitting shoes, constant standing and disease all take their toll on the feet of homeless people. One of the most basic ways to keep feet healthy is to keep them warm and dry – a sometimes daunting task if you spend your days outside.

The Hazel Dell PTA will be providing popcorn and snacks (but donations are always welcome!), and pizza by the slice or whole pizzas will be available for purchase. There will also be a PJ and Costume Parade, and just good ‘ol fun!

Although the Washington State University Vancouver Kindergarten Program started September 1, 2010, they celebrated their opening today, September 30, complete with ribbon cutting ceremony. The private, full-day kindergarten is an expansion of the Washington State University’s successful Child Development Program. The new facility offers children’s learning areas, a library and playground.The kindergarten also provides a learning laboratory for WSU Vancouver students. Those pursuing a degree in human development sometimes observe the kindergarten classroom as part of their studies. Chinook and Salmon Creek Students Still Have School.

All schools in the Vancouver School District, which includes all our schools here in the Salmon Creek neighborhood, friday-the-13thwill have early release on Wed and Thur, March 11 and 12 for conferences.  But, Alki Middle School and Skyview High School students also get all day off on Friday the 13th, while the students at Chinook and Salmon Creek Elementary still have a normal Friday the 13th.  We’ll see who’s still laughing after student led conferences are over.… [Continue reading...]
